The removal of leaks is based on solid legal foundations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland:
A U.S. law accepted by most international platforms (Google, YouTube, Meta, TikTok) as the standard for processing takedown requests. Google processed approximately 3.5 billion such requests in 2024.
Applicable to European platforms: Article 16 of the DSA requires providers to establish reporting procedures and to promptly address complaints regarding illegal content. Effective since February 2024 for all online platforms in the EU.
Provides comprehensive protection for copyright holders. Commercial copyright infringement is punishable by up to 5 years’ imprisonment. Under civil law, injunctions, removal of infringing content, and damages are possible.
Provide additional protection for personal and intimate content. Section 201a specifically protects the most private sphere of life.
